Providing an abundance of opportunities, children look forward to attending School. The dropout rate is very low, therefore. While providing nutritious morning meals and learning programmes continue to be the primary goals, celebrating the many multicultural events Sri Lanka offers as well as celebrating important global events encourage children to respect diversity. This is one of The Sunshine Charity’s greatest motivations.
Celebrated on the 15 of October each year, Global Handwashing Day is an international handwashing promotion campaign to motivate and mobilize people around the world to improve their handwashing habits. Kids learn that washing hands at critical points during the day and washing with soap for at least twenty seconds is important. The activity conducted at the kids’ washing bay area encourage them to go tell their parents of the fun experience and more importantly that they should do the same at home.
On the 20th of November each year, in keeping with the United Nations General Assembly declaration on the Convention on the Rights of the Child, children around the world, celebrate World Children’s Day. The Sunshine Children enjoy this day coming together to share their stories, to sing songs and dance their hearts away.
